Unicorn Hot Chocolate Spoons

For our latest Hot chocolate spoons we were inspired by unicorns. Unicorns give us a sense of something magical and special, characterised by pastel colours, iridescent hues and everything shimmery…

We at Torie Jayne Design believe you’re never too young for some mystical magic, so for our latest DIY hot chocolate spoons we added some pretty pastel shimmery candy decorations to create a sense of something magical and special, cue the Unicorns!

For extra prettiness we decorated the wooden spoon handles with washi tape.

To make six hot chocolate spoons

You will need:

  • 200g good quality white chocolate
  • Pink & blue chocolate colouring or a few candy melts in red & blue
  • 6 wooden spoons
  • Small Dariole Silicone Bakeware Mould / large flexible ice cube tray or small silicone cupcake mould
  • Confetti dots
  • White Pearl 10mm Edible Sugar Pearl Balls
  • Pink Pearl 8mm Edible Sugar Pearl Balls
  • Blue edible sugar pearls
  • Pearlised white sugar strands
  • Edible glitter

Method:

  1. Start by chopping your chocolate into small pieces, put half the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl or mug and heat in the microwave on a medium temperature for approximately 2 minutes in 30 second bursts until chocolate is almost completely melted, stirring after each blast. Stir well until smooth, fully melted and glossy. Add a few drops of blue chocolate colouring. Allow to sit for a minute and stir.
  2. Using a brush dust the base of your silicone moulds with edible glitter
  3. Carefully pour or spoon the melted blue chocolate into the moulds. Tap the mould firmly against your worktop to remove any air bubbles from the chocolate, set aside for five minutes.
  4. Place the remaining white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl or mug and heat in the microwave on a medium temperature for approximately 2 minutes in 30 second bursts until chocolate is almost completely melted, stirring after each blast. Stir well until smooth, fully melted and glossy. Add a few drops of pink chocolate colouring. Allow to sit for a minute and stir.
  5. Carefully pour or spoon the melted pink chocolate into the moulds. Tap the mould firmly against your worktop to remove any air bubbles from the chocolate, set aside for five minutes.
  6. Add the spoons to the middle of each mould, sink them into the melted chocolate making sure your spoon is submerged in the chocolate and not leaning to one side.
  7. Sprinkle confetti dots, sprinkles & mini pearls to the tops, add a few sugar pearls and gently press down to make sure all the sugar pearls are touching the chocolate.
  8. Place in the freezer for 15-20 minutes or until completely set.
  9. Once fully set, carefully remove the chocolate spoon from mould.
  10. When you are ready to serve your Hot chocolate, pop one of the spoons in an attractive mug. Bring a cup of milk to the boil in a small saucepan over medium heat or in the microwave, then pour into your mug and stir well until the chocolate melts away.
